Have An Open Mind: ALL THINGS KPOP! ft. Brooke Morrison
For today's episode, we want to remind you about something that we've been told since we were little: don't judge a book by its cover. Just because you may not like something (or someone) at first glance, doesn't mean that they don't deserve a chance. Be open-minded!
We had a special guest join us today, Brooke Morrison! Racquel and Brooke do KPOP reaction videos together! They are both HUGE fans!
Music is only a small portion of what these artists do. The whole culture of KPOP is just something to fall in love with. There is just something different. It's more genuine, the fashion sense, the love, the dancing, all of it, it sucks you in.
Korean artists show SO much love for their fans. Obviously, those in America do too, but not to the same extent. For them, fans are the inspiration for everything they do. They don't take for granted that they are only where they are because of their fans.
How a Korean artist comes to be is also a whole lot different than it is here. It isn't something that happens overnight. In Korea, it's basically a whole school that needs to be attended. Watch the episode to hear Racquel explain the process these artists go through.
Having groups is also something that makes them more distinct. There will always be an artist within the group that is loved. If there's a solo artist, and you don't like them, you're not going to buy their stuff, or listen to their music, right? But, if there's a group where you love one member, you're still going to keep up with the whole group!
There is just SO much stigma here in America. People don't want to go against what is seen as "masculine", even if they like it. If they don't understand it, they don't care and it's "wrong". This shouldn't be the case. We have to keep an open mind, and actually dip our toe in the water before making any judgments. 2020 has shown us that we should keep an open mind because life will not always go as expected.
We made a playlist with a ton of different artists for you to listen to, check it out here!
